A timely and dynamic exhibition that explored the many effects of colonisation on Country, its people, place, heart, and soul.
Exhibiting during National Reconciliation Week 2023, the potent artworks in Djiyadi Ngumun – meaning ‘talking in whispers’ – were created by prolific Aboriginal artist Konstantina (Kate Constantine).
Featuring thirty original works, Konstantina celebrated the subtleties and subversives that have helped keep Aboriginal culture alive. By sharing truth and beauty in equal measure, she explored many themes, including land and language, loss and discovery, and connection and isolation.
The exhibition was on display in the lobby of Liberty Place in Sydney’s CBD from 8 May until 3 June.
Djiyadi Ngumun was presented by Liberty Place, and curated and produced by aMBUSH Gallery (an initiative of Wiltshire + Dimas Management).
