In 2019, aMBUSH and Scentre Group’s partnership ventured across the ditch to New Zealand for the reimagining of Westfield Newmarket, in the heart of the Auckland suburb.
The revitalised Westfield Newmarket delivered a reimagined retail experience to the aspiring and aware local audience, filled with innovation and inviting designs. The project commissioned 16 contemporary New Zealand artists, spanning genres such as street art, sculpture, painting and illustration.
A priority for the ongoing series is to engage with local Indigenous artists and communities for the creation of these public artworks, with the larger aim of creating a new economy through the engagement of artists.
Featured artists include Askew One, Janine Williams, Charles Williams, Benjamin Work, Melinda Butt, Flox, Cinzah, Lizzie Snow, Cracked Ink, Sean Duffell, Sally Smith, Chris Bailey, Ben Foster, Natalie Guy, Gary Silipa and Kara Burrowes.
