Mambuwalabu ngaanhabu gulbalabu – Look and See (Understand)

Project Info

Mambuwalabu ngaanhabu gulbalabu – Look and See (Understand) transformed Liberty Place into a dynamic platform for cultural storytelling, showcasing the work of four celebrated First Nations artists: Bronwyn Bancroft, Dennis Golding, Elizabeth Close, and Jessi Rebel.

Curated and produced by aMBUSH Gallery (an initiative of W+D Management), the exhibition extended beyond traditional wall displays to activate the entire Liberty Place precinct. Large-scale textile works, vibrant window decals, and striking architectural treatments created an immersive experience that invited passersby to engage with the art at every turn.

Running throughout National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, the exhibition responded to the 2025 themes Bridging Now to Next and The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy. These themes were brought to life through artworks that celebrated resilience, honoured ancestry, and looked forward to a future shaped by cultural strength and shared understanding.

As a free and open public activation, the exhibition invited workers, visitors, and the broader community to engage meaningfully with First Nations perspectives—turning a busy civic space into a site for learning, connection, and creative exchange.
