Championing cultural connection through art, Wiltshire + Dimas has developed a visionary Public Art Strategy for Macquarie Centre’s redevelopment—an integration of contemporary design and First Nations-led storytelling.
Bringing Country-Centred Design to Macquarie Centre – Wiltshire + Dimas is proud to have led the Public Art Strategy for Macquarie Centre’s Herring Road Corner Podium Redevelopment. Commissioned by AMP Capital, this strategy aligns public art with place-making, ensuring a seamless integration of culture, community, and contemporary design. The approach embodies Country-Centred Design, embedding First Nations voices into the built environment and fostering meaningful cultural exchanges.
With the guidance of AMP Capital’s First Nations Cultural Advisor, the strategy prioritises authentic engagement with Indigenous artists, curators, and knowledge holders. The result is a carefully curated selection of public artworks that celebrate local narratives, enhance the urban realm, and create a legacy of cultural storytelling. The plan incorporates activation footprints that blend permanent public art with dynamic programming, including digital and sculptural installations, interactive cultural experiences, and sustainable design elements.
A Legacy of Collaboration and Creativity – Through this project, Wiltshire + Dimas continues its commitment to innovative public art strategies that drive social and cultural impact. By merging architectural design with artistic expression, we have helped shape a vibrant and inclusive cultural destination at Macquarie Centre, setting a benchmark for future public art integrations.
