Game On took recreation time at Kambri at ANU to a whole new level! The free games arcade brought a vibrant pop-up activation to Joplin Lane for staff, students and visitors to enjoy.
Opening in early February 2022, Game On was essentially a contemporary arcade parlour with a vintage feel, designed to be student-owned and relevant.
Featuring pinball and arcade machines, plus air hockey, ping pong and more, the space was also punctuated by specially commissioned large-scale artworks created by the exceptional talent from the ANU School of Art & Design (SOAD).
It featured an evolving artwork activation area, giving visitors the opportunity to contribute to the visual environment through the use of paste-ups, a sticker wall, and a chalkboard with the prompt “I am inspired by …” to which they were encouraged to respond with their own musings.
It was a huge success with the community, and proved a welcoming environment where everyone could participate, whether they chose to get in on the gaming action, enjoy the art, contribute to the communal display, or just relax.
Game On was presented by Kambri at ANU, and produced and curated by aMBUSH Gallery.
