COURT is a happy place – an immersive art installation and tennis table space painted by Sydney artist Elliott Routledge. It’s free to use daily and nightly during Vivid Sydney and beyond.
‘I have created a contemporary mural installation that takes over the walls, floors and tables to encourage visitors to be immersed in a kaleidoscope of colour and movement. Using bold, dramatic patterns and subtle gradients, the artwork breaks free of the usual lines of architecture and creates a new and free-flowing arena where people can move freely and feel like part of the artwork.
A smiley face sculpture sits proud as you walk in, and reminds us that happiness and joy are the feelings found here. In the bustle of Circular Quay in amongst the CBD of Sydney, this space should act as a place to forget the stressful things that might have happened in our day, pick up a racket, and put a smile on your face.
At the centre of it all, the tables themselves stand as monuments to creativity, their surfaces adorned with long smooth gradients that elevate the game to new heights.’ – Elliott Routledge
